Humor in Foreign Language Classroom
This is the work completed in collaboration with Bo Khanh Linh Since time immemorial, there has been a myriad of theories and views regarding how human languages develop and how people learn languages. In the era of modernisation and globalisation, there is an urgent need to be able to communicate in at least one foreign language, which has given rise to the popularity of foreign language classes. Research has been conducted as to what makes people learn a new language effectively. No matter how old they are or where they come from, foreign language learners are all humans, which means they have feelings. The Affective Filter Hypothesis (Krashen, 1981) took this into account and proposed the idea that students cannot successfully acquire a second language when they are anxious, lacking in motivation and self-esteem since there exists a mental block in the process of input processing.
